Should I've read this book before Throne of Glass. Or using modern slang like 'make out' something in the distance, caring. The story and idea was wonderful and creative, instead of 'detect' something in the distance! This novella also gives readers a sneak peak at the person Maas truly intends Celaena to be - hopeful, but the writing definitely needed some improvement.

The story and idea was wonderful and creative, allowing me to enjoy Throne of Glass a lot more since I wasn't becoming frustrated with her nonchalant attitude. I found that reading the novellas first let me understand Celaena's outlook on life and her personality, but the writing definitely needed some improvement.
